Pressure is not about an external force. It is about the weight we often put on ourselves the burden of our own expectations, guilt, or the constant need to be more. I painted the figure in reds and blues to show the friction and the internal conflict. The body pushes against a grey space that is created by one's own thoughts. It is the feeling of resisting your own inner critic. I wanted to show how draining this self-imposed pressure is, but also that the figure does not break. There is a visible resistance that tries to reclaim the necessary space.
